Follow Buddy on his quest for the legendary Utopia of Shangri-La,
made famous by James Hilton's "Lost Horizon." This trip is

Day 1: Los Angeles - Hong Kong
Board your transpacific flight for Hong Kong, China.
Day 2: Onboard flight
Day 3: Hong Kong
On arrival you are met and transferred to the elegant Regal Kowloon

Day 4: Hong Kong
We spend today enjoying this vibrant city's many sights and
experiences. A half-day guided orientation tour will take us atop
Victoria Peak for a 360-degree view of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon,
the surrounding harbors and outer islands. Then a scenic drive takes
us past Repulse Bay to the colorful floating community of Aberdeen,
and vibrant Stanley Market, a favorite bargain shopping area. You
are free to explore the other aspects of the city for the remainder

Day 5: Hong Kong - Kunming
Fly to Kunming, capital of China's Yunnan Province, where you begin

Day 6: Kunming
Spend the day exploring the "City of Eternal Spring" noted for its
balmy climate. Enjoy visits to the colorful Bird & Flower Market,
the Bamboo Temple and the fine exhibitions of the Yunnan Provincial

Day 7: Kunming - Dali
This morning fly to Dali, seat of the Bai culture. The balance of
the day is spent touring the markets and surrounding villages Asia

Day 8: Dali - Lijiang
Depart this morning for the overland journey to lijiang. Enroute, we
will visit a typical living house of Bai Nationality at Xizhou
village, and a Batic making workshop at Zhoucheng Village. Arriving
in time for lunch, we take an afternoon guided walk in the Lijiang's
charming old town , a world of cobbled streets, canals and stone

Day 9: Lijiang
Enjoy the beauty of the Lijiang area with visits to the outlying
villages of Longquan and Baisha, the old capital of the Naxi, where
we can admire the frescoes on of its ancient temples featuring
Taoist and Tibetan themes. Then climb up the small Yufeng Monastery,
a great center of learning in ancient times, set among hills on the

Day 10: Lijiang - Zhongdian
Today we drive northwards toward the Tibetan region of Zhongdian,
passing by the spectacular Tiger Leaping Gorge and picturesque
villages along the upper reaches of the great Yangzi River. Later
today, arrive at the town of Zhongdian, which was recently renamed
by the local government as Xiang Ge Li La ( Shangri-La). Gyalthang

Days 11: Zhongdian
Visit the Songtzeling Monastery and Ringa, a traditional Tibetan
village built around the sacred monastery of the Five Wisdom Buddhas.
Explore the high alpine lake known as Shudu and take a walk through
the wildflower meadows around the lake where yak and horses graze

Day 12: Zhongdian - Kunming - Guilin
This morning you depart Zhongdian and fly to Guilin, one of China's
most beautiful cities that bring to life the classical scenery
celebrated in Chinese paintings. Transfer to the Royal Garden Hotel
by the Li Rivers for two nights stay. In the afternoon, we visit the
extraordinary underground caverns of the Reed Flute Cave and the

Day 13: Guilin
Today, we take a leisurely cruise along the Li River, which winds
its way through the pointed, craggy hills, rice paddies, limestone
rock formations and be charmed by the romantic effects of mist and
cloud. After lunch on boat, we disembark at the small town of
Yangshuo. We spend some time browsing Yangshuo's antique and craft
stalls before returning Guilin in the late afternoon. Free at

Day 14: Guilin- USA
Transfer to airport for your flight to back west Coast USA. Arrive
